MESH LANCE RACK FROM MEDIEVAL DESIGNS

Francesco Despres, owner of Medieval Designs has created a mesh version of the Lance Rack required to rez a new MD lance. It is available free for the asking and reduces the prim count from 27 to 7! Since most lists use two, that’s 14 vs 54prim count savings on your land.

To obtain, contact Francesco Despres directly. Francesco is also working on new prim armor items, such as a great helm so be sure to watch for those announcements.

KISH ENTERPRISES “JOUST TRACKER”

At the Double Dragon Academy Masters Class last February 22, Val Kish introduced her ‘Joust Traker’ device. Many are finding great use for it as a training or officiating aide.

For training, it allows jousters to see run patterns and various bullet behavior between lances. For officiating, it allows officials to see when turns exceed the scribed lines on the joust base.

For those who wish to ‘separate’ the bullet and run tracking, its easy to do. The device deceptively simple, consisting of 3 prims. The larger prim that fits over two smaller prims rezzes bullets patterns of the lance. The two smaller prims within, are two halves of a whole which rez the red and blue lines that track movement.

Unlinking the prims, allows you to use them independently or store one away. For example you can use the bullet rezzing on one list and the tracking lines on another. If doing the latter, re-link the two smaller prims and make sure the color sides face their respective list lanes.

If you wish to freeze tracking lines for a longer look, just touch the cube. To get rid of them quickly, click twice.

FREE SLTA JOUST BASE LINES

The base lines you see inscribed in the list base at many jousts was created by Forester Lowenhart to aid officials in judging allowable set width of lances at the gate and turns in the run.

The list baselines were based research by Headmaster Forester Lowenhart and available under TRAINING | RESEARCH on the Jousting League site.

The have been packaged with the Kish Joust Tracker and the Star Jousting System. If you would like a free copy, contact Forester Lowenhart.

The lines at the gate are set at a 45degree angle, the same as a TAS (Armour Stall) lance set at P6 (position 6 on the Hud). This is the maximum set width for SLTA Intersim Jousts. The lines in the center are set to a 35degree angle (in both directions), to observe turns which would allow the TAS lance (set at P6) to exceed 90degree angle to the center rail. The TAS list system also uses this 35degree angle for their harsh turn foul.

At that angle, the lance cannot hit the back of another jouster, unless the other jouster is turning to the outside fence, and exposing their back to the normal joust strike zone.
