As many may know, The Double Dragon Academy has maintained an inworld campus on the KISMET Northwinds sim for the past 12 years.

Recently, the owner of the KISMET Sims, which has served as the primary home to the hallmark home & hearth designs of Cierra Anatain, announced her sims would be closing at the end of year 2023. In her words:

"I've been in SL for nearly 17 years and started Kismet 15 years ago. I've had a very successful and fulfilling time creating content for this amazing place, and have made many dear friends, including you. As much as I hate to lose what I have here, it's time to move on."

Cierra, a longtime friend of Headmaster Forester and Commander Bella since their earliest days in SL will be greatly missed as a kind and constant caretaker, so we want to wish her the best in her next chapter of life.

FUTURE OF THE DOUBLE DRAGON ACADEMY

For the near future, The Double Dragon Academy campus will remain in hiatus until it decides where and when to reopen at a new location in SL.

This transition will not affect DDA certification programs as all remain active and available online or on the SL Marketplace Here is where to find them:

DDA CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS

The Double Dragon Academy maintains an active online website with a complete catalog of programs to serve the needs of interested students on the Double Dragon Academy website @

We are justly proud of our students' achievements, and true to our commitment to honor them rightly, maintain their achievements at this site through the display of wall plaques listing all DDA graduates and levels of certification achieved @

To be among them, the DDA provides a rigor of COMPETITION, EDUCATION, MENTORSHIP & SERVICE components required for graduation, easily achieved by any committed individual. All of those graduation requirements can be accomplished online without visiting the DDA campus in-world.

So, we hope you will continue your journey and education, as we chart our next chapter.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

For example, all of the DDA certifications programs are available for purchase on the SL Marketplace @

EDUCATION

This includes all certification kit levels, weapons and guidebooks required for the EDUCATION component.

COMPETITION

All requirements for the COMPETITON component are ongoing annually through the tournaments at many sims which are reported online at the SL Tournament Association (SLTA) website @

MENTORSHIP & SERVICE

Requirements for MENTORSHIP & SERVICE components are available in most SL medeival themed realms where one roleplays, participates or serves.

The only impact will be fewer on-campus training events for Joust, Melee and Archery at the DDA. These events had always remained uniquely amature in status, accumulation of points, but not 'prize winnings', so that students could compete purley for the love of sport. Over time however, the DDA has shifted from 'training' to 'testing', since so many Realms offer a high level of training that meets the DDA's certification requirements. So, we will be expanding our skill quests testing for broader accessibility.

ACADEMY OF THE DOUBLE DRAGON GROUP

This group is always open for sending announcements on community events to its 600+ membership. Administrators like myself, will be reachable to answer any questions regarding the program or to address a student's needs through their SL accounts, published emails and links in their profiles, or via the website.

That's how it works now, so not much will change. Join the DDA in-world @:

SLTA MUSEUM OF TOURNAMENT

This uniquely curated museum archiving some of SL's most important tournament history, will go offline with the closure of the Kismet sims until it finds a new home in SL. However, a commemorative and comprehensive guide to its current exhibition "A Decade Of Joust' can be found on the SL Marketplace @

We are sorry for any inconvenience the closure of the Kismet sims may cause to our members, and the Academy wishes to extend its thanks and appreciation for all those students and supporters who made the campus in Kismet, such a success and service to the community.

Bear in mind the discounts available for in-world campus purchases have never been available on Marketplace. But we will continue the practice at any future in-world campus in SL.

'May the highroad always be afore ye.' - DDA Headmaster Forester Lowenhart

UPDATE: Official Kismet Northwinds closing date 1-10-1024
