A Tinie piece of SL Jousting History

An upcoming Exhibition being assembled by the Jousting League of SL will showcase development of the Joust in Second Life during it's formative years from 2008 through 2018 for the full size avatar community.

Although the first Medieval Designs (MD) lance for full size avatars was sold in October 2007, and the MD store and The Armor Store opened in January 2008, it would be short sighted (no pun intended) to not credit the 'TINIE' community for holding the first joust in SL.

These 'crunched' sized Critters are a large and robust role-play universe, with the largest concentration of shops and activities found in SL's Ragland Shire, supported by an active Online newsletter @ http://raglanshire.com

A search of the website archives reveals the Tinie community led by Peaches (Latrell) and Apollo (Kronos) made the first horse and lance available for the Ragland Shire community by April 2007; almost half a year before the first Medieval Designs lance was available for full size avatars. The joust became a signature event in Ragland's first Medieval Festival held in September 2007, and has remained so to this day, just completing their 13th annual event this last Fall on September 30th. The festival doubles as a fund raising event to raise money for animal charities.

It's fun to look over their posters from the past, and some of the early champions, such as red dragon Eren Padar (shown left) who won the 2nd Ragland joust tournament at the Medieval Festival in September of 2008, and who went on to create his own lance and tournament system for tinies (and bigs), still found at the Isle Of Worms marketplace in his Dragon Forge shop (see above).

Other winners in those early years, were Iwanta Salamander in 2009, Bloodsong in 2010 and Clover in 2011, the first year the SL Tournament Association celebrated its annual full size winners.
