Remembering the Lance Rest

The blog is named after the Lance Rest. What is that?

It's a two fold reference. If you look at the object at the top right hand corner, you will see small metal hook device that was bolted to the breastplate on most jousting armor to rest the weight of a lance on (lance rest).

But more then that, it was a little digital getaway for many jousters. A small SL watering hole in the Realm of Knightstown, located just a stones throw from the tilt field where many would go there after a joust to dance...relax...or exchange stories.

The proprieter was a jouster in RL, and spent many a time explaining the inside workings of modern joust tournaments.

We miss it, but rememberth it here as an homage to good times.

UPDATE June, 2014: The blog "The Lance Rest" associated with the Jousting League website has changed its name to "The Medieval Herald". The blog operates as an independant journal used on several websites, including the Jousting League.
