The SLTA is proud to celebrate the best in SL MELEE, ARCHERY & JOUST Tournament competitions held during its Season 14 (June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2025).
As with past years (dating back to 2011) the SLTA is hosting its annual 'Best In Tournaments' awards on the Saturday in June nearest the Summer Solstice, which just happened to be one and the same this year:
Saturday, June 21, 2025.

NEW THIS YEAR
Over the years, the awards presented at the annual SLTA celebration have been from various sponsors, such as the SLTA, DDA, JOUSTING LEAGUE and Dragon's Lair.
This season marks an important change in the annual awards presentations, as the MGA shifted to month-to-month posting of tournaments and the SLTA to maintaining its archive of past seasons. So the SLTA is taking this opportunity to update its sponsored awards and the procedures for getting them to their recipients.
The SLTA will also be continuing the practice it began last season for honoring the Best in Tournaments in an
on-line only event, whereas the MGA will be hosting an in-world awards event for the first time, which it encourages all to attend.
TWO FOR WON, WIN FOR ALL
As redundant as this may appear, RL has plenty of examples for celebrating some of the same performances each year in different award venues such as the US Academy Awards & Golden Globes or the British Baftas.*
Having multiple tournament award events should be a win-win for tournament participants; doubling the recognition they receive for their success in the tournament arenas, fields, and lists of SL. Results may vary due to a difference in start dates, as may the winners, but the impetus for this recognition remains the same; to quote from past SLTA keynotes from Headmaster Forester:
“Old men forget; but all shall not be forgot,
And he will remember, what feats he did that day.”
Then shall our names, familiar in his mouth as household words-
Be in their flowing cups freshly remembered.”
St. Crispen's Day Speech
William Shakespeare, 1599
RECIEVING YOUR AWARD
With the archiving of its 14th season, the SLTA wants to congratulate and celebrate the participants who earned top placement in SL's Tournaments for Joust, Melee and Archery.
We know your participation, good sportsmanship, camaraderie and fellowship with others is reward enough, but to honor your achievements rightly, we wish to send you a well-deserved memento.
As with past years, the winners for each tournament category are listed below, but due to the shift in awards celebrations, some SLTA signature awards are retiring this year along with the distribution of prim-heavy in-world awards in favor of a prim-friendly on-line option:
1) Available to winners is a framed texture similar to those below with an added nameplate bearing the award title and season. Winners name* and placement are added for 1st through 4th place awards.
2) Texture(s) in .jpg file format are sent upon email request to recipients for uploading to a prim of choice and placement in SL or sending to an RL printer for display in home, office or scrapbook.
3) To request your award(s), send an email to SLTOURNAMENT@gmail.com Inworld SL chat or notecard requests will not be responded to.
*Include your SL account name for identification of all awards requested. For 1st through 4th place awards provide a display name, if preferred for nameplate, but without titles due to a fit limit.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL HONOREES THIS SEASON!
This concludes the presentation for the BEST IN TOURNAMENTS for the SLTA Season XIV (14), June 1, 2024, to May 31st, 2025). The archive of that season is available for review on the SLTA website. Any keynote address intended for this year's event will come as separate post, and highlight the following:
Season XV BEST OF TOURNAMENTS
AWARDS RETIRING
The SLTA Intersim Joust Champion and Intersim Top Ten awards will hereafter be retired. The Best Of Helm Award will remain as a discretionary award for DDA competitions, while other Best Of Season Awards, such as Best Of Service and Best Of Hits, will remain as SLTA discretionary awards presented as merited.
REMBERING A LEGACY: THE INTERSIM JOUST
The Intersim Joust event was the first of its kind in SL and launched the modern tournament movement in 2011 all follow today. During its 14-year history it has served faithfully to annually award the top performing jouster in community tournaments and the impetus for the first annual awards event hosted by the SLTA. Over the years, it served as the benchmark for jousting prowess in the tournament community and remains a source of pride and accomplishment for its recipients.
The retirement of the award comes at a good time as the event only honored those who Joust and has diminished significantly over the years from its original intent as a rigorous 50-week competition (2010-14), to a 25-week bi-monthly event (2015-18) before its current schedule of 12, once a month pageants. Also changing, was the practice initiated by its first recipient, Headmaster Forester, for the current champion to step away from Intersim competition the following season and clear the way for new champions. After 2014, current champions began returning to the race year after year, resulting in multiple wins by the same individual in a season offering fewer competitive challenges.
The practice has continued in part, as a refresh for each new SLTA posting season, using the catch phrase:
"Season XV is now reset to zeros for new heroes."
So we shall see what next season brings !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
++A discrepancy remains in MGA's reporting of SLTA's Intersim event for July 2024. The event was originally posted in SLTA and MGA group notices, and on MGA's posting site as the SLTA Intersim before MGA's later rebranding as 'Tournament of Champions' and Best Of Helm to 'Knights Presentation'. SLTA notification to the MGA of this discrepancy in their reporting (See HERALD article: "SLTA Looks To The Future") did not result in a correction at the time of this post. To avoid any confusion, this year's Intersim Joust awards have been presented to the winners for the uncontested Intersim events.
