In light of Linden Labs new ‘Skilled Gaming’ Policy taking affect September 1st, the Double Dragon Academy has made the following changes to tournaments held on its campus.
To read about the new Linden Lab policy refer to the Medieval Herald blog post:
"Linden Labs 'Skilled Gaming' restrictions & Medieval Games & Tournaments". The new DDA policy reads as follows:
DOUBLE DRAGON ACADEMY TOURNAMENTS
Tournament competition is just one of the components in the Double Dragon Academy (DDA) certification process to test a well rounded cadet in areas of Competition, Education, Mentoring and Service to Realm.
Higher learning institutions in RL do not pay their athletes for performance. To provide a compatible academic RP for the Academy, and comply with the new LL policy, the DDA has stopped accepting linden contributions from tournament participants, and no longer pays out linden awards to winners.
RL collegiate athletes do compete for annual standings and recognition, and DDA tournament winners will continue to earn points towards same.
You need not be enrolled in the Academy to participate in any of its tournaments or earn points.
DDA TOURNAMENT REVIEW
The DDA will be reviewing its tournament schedule and limiting to those which present the greatest learning benefits for students.
There are more then enough tournament opportunities in SL to satisfy DDA certification testing requirements, and due to the DDA’s conversion last October to a largely self-driven program available 24/7, student progress is independent of DDA staff schedules which can fluctuate from RL or SL commitments.
TOURNAMENTS SPONSORED BY OTHER ORGANIZATIONS
The DDA remains open to other organizations hosting professional sporting events on its campus, such as the SL Tournament Association (SLTA).
In keeping with the new DDA policy, tournament boards have been changed to prevent linden contributions and payouts. This does not prevent a host of the tournament from offering their own cash prize or other sponsored award as a gift to winners of their tournament.
In addition, to maintain the highest standards for fair play and universal participation (aka Chivalry) at the Academy, we ask any group, realm or organization wishing to host a tournament at the DDA campus endorse the “Professional Code of Conduct” available on the Jousting League website at:
http://www.joustingleague.com
Individual particpants are bound by the event's tournament rules.
CHARITY EVENTS
The DDA is a not for profit institution and does not accept contributions. However a charity barrel is available on the DDA campus to accept contributions any time and are distributed to recognized charities in RL.
