MGF Group Closing

Sun 28 May 2017 18:31:37

We are officially closing the MGF group and re-opening as MGA or Medieval Games Alliance. There are group joiners available at several tournament areas, also you can search the group or just check my groups to join. Thank you for your participation and cooperation.

The MGF had originally been created October 21, 2014 by Bri McMahon, merging several existing jousting groups formed earlier in response to the deep divisions within the Jousting Community caused by the United Jousters group.

Making up the new coalition, were McMahons former group SL Medieval Gaming Association (SLMGA), Virtual Jousting League (VJL), and Jouster4Jousters, adding Dragons Lair (DL) to balance out the leadership. The charter promoted support for all groups and tournaments in SL, and included among its owners, representatives of principal jousting groups and realms.

See HERALD post: October 21, 2014 'Groups merge under 'Medieval Games Fellowship'

MGF’s attempt to build a broad coalition fell primarily to the leaders of two constituencies, the VJL and DL, who differed on direction and added individual supporters to a growing list of owners. DL leadership favored the original mandate of the group, and criticized VJL leadership for promoting a personal agenda that violated SL Terms of Service (TOS). After the VJF un-merged from MGF, and the list of MGF owners continued to escalate from sources unknown, DL leadership closed the group by ejecting all MGF members, and directing them to a new group MGA.

Protest of the closure prompted a quick responce from the leader of the VJL who had un-merged itself from the MGF earlier in the year, but maintained its proxy as an owner in the MGF group.

MGF is NOT Closing!

Sun 28 May 2017 20:33:22

Please disregard the last notice. The MGF group is not closing. This shameful act was done without the consult of the MGF community. This act was done by MedievalGamesAlliance Resident, who we have a pretty good idea who they are.

MGF has and always will be an open group that is not affiliated with any one group.

In response to this horrible act, we are making everyone who joins the group a Group Admin, so no one can be deleted unless they leave the group on their own accord.

Thank you!

VJL accused MGA for 'bullying ways', promising to report them to Linden Labs, and grant owner rights to any who re-joined the MGF. In a subsequent notice, VJL confirmed the closure of MGF and announced the opening of another group, MSH (Medieval Sports Herald) in its place.

The MGF is Discontinued, Thanks

Thank you for your past support for the past nearly 3 years. Due to an out-falling, the Medieval Games Fellowship has been discontinued. For future options, you might consider the Medieval Games Alliance (Neph's group), the Medieval Sports Herald (Nyza's group), the United Warriors (online since 2011), and/or other similar groups. As always, the community is changing, and we must change with it. Best wishes to you all in all your future endeavors.

The group charters for the two new groups are as follows:

MEDIEVAL GAMES ALLIANCE - founded by MedievalGamesAlliance

The MGA seeks to UNITE, PROMOTE, and BUILD a COMMUNITY of people who are passionate about medieval sports in SL. Our goal is to allow organizers to promote medieval sporting events such as jousting, melee combat and archery. We are here to support and promote EVERYONE. Please feel free to promote your medieval sporting event here.

MEDIEVAL SPORTS HERALD - founded by Nyza Stillwater

We provide an open avenue for hosts to communicate with competitors and fans alike about upcoming medieval and renaissance period sporting events, practices, & tournaments. Notices about weapons and equipment updates are also acceptable. If you are unsure if the content of your notice is acceptable, please contact a member of the Staff Team. For questions about a particular notice/event, please contact the host directly. Have fun and enjoy great times!

NOTICE SENDING
