On October 25th, the Double Dragon Academy (DDA) began its 9th year, celebrating 8 years of operation as the first and longest running Academy and Jousting venue in Second Life.
Based on tried and true principles of chivalry, updated for our modern age, the Academy's inauguration is marked each year on the anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt (October 25, 1415), and continues to echo Shakespeare's immortal words from 'Henry V' regarding the accomplishment and sacrifice of the few against the many.
“And this day shall ne'er go by, To the ending of the world, without rememberence of we few, we happy few, we band of brothers;”
Honored this year with Service Awards were DDA faculty whose help and assistance to cadets and the jousting community have added much to a vibrant medieval community.
DDA Dean KaliVHaru was honored for her distinguished service in support on behalf of the DDA and jousting community. All who joust owe her a great debt of gratitude for posting all SL jousts in standings available on the Jousting League and SL Tournament Association websites:
http://www.joustingleague.com ~AND~ http://sltournament.wixsite.com/sltournament
These standings count towards the career totals for each jouster and help monitor their progress, compare with the competition, or count towards annual titles for the top 10 in each classification.
DDA Chief Joust Instructor, Brett Keller was honored for his outstanding support on behalf of the DDA and jousting community. For the past several years, he has hosted the DDA's signature Wednesday joust (established August 2009), aka 'Wednesday Knight Fights' and the DDA's Monday joust (established May 2013), aka 'Monday Funday Joust' at the DDA and Dragons Lair Sims. With good humor and dedication he provides events both challenging and fun.
DDA Program Adviser, Queen Nakajima was honored for her continued support to cadets and all those who seek her assistance regarding the Academy's programs.
Each of the recipients of outstanding Service Awards provide the community with unique opportunities to enhance and enjoy their role-play experience in SL in their home Realm of Dragon's Lair or when at the DDA.
Graduating Class 2017
The DDA strives to serve the medieval community as a training facility for medieval role players, providing members with free cadet uniforms, weapons and a robust campus open 24/7 that offers advance training facilities in joust, melee, archery, and other weapons.
The Acacamy's unique, self-driven programs allow anyone to achieve mastery over these various weapon classification, and this year we honored new Masters of Joust:
Brett Kjeller
Alexarya
LadyFishbait
Wilhemina Jules
Each student (cadet) also has the opportunity to progress at their own pace through advanced certification in any of the above weapon categories to obtain levels of Gold (Apprentice), Silver (Journeyman), Iron (Knight) and Steel (Master). A simple points systems tracks each participant's progress and rewards their unique achievements with a set of customized titles, weapons and rewards to identify their special standing at the Academy. This year we honored a new recipient of the Steel Lance, the highest level of mastery offered at the Academy for Joust:
Queen Nakajima
Please join the DDA in applauding all these efforts and hard work this past year.

Their certification has served as permanent passport and resume across the medieval realms of Second Life, testifying to their high level of competency in medieval role-play, competition and community service.
