CHANGES AT THE DOUBLE DRAGON ACADEMY IN 2021

Headmaster Forester Lowenhart is announcing important changes for the Double Dragon Academy in the New Year:

“In 2020 the DDA achieved a unique milestone completing a decade of service in Second Life. In 2021, the SLTA will achieve this same milestone.

Now is a good time to share future plans for the DDA after a Decade of Service.

During those years the DDA has become the longest running consistent and dominant cornerstone in the development of medieval tournament and role-play, thanks to its unique programs and the commitment and dedication of each faculty member and student. This longevity has provided a viewing stand to watch a parade of groups and realms come and go and salute each one for their support as they have passed by.

In that time the program has been transitioning from offering on-campus instructors, training and tournaments to a self-directed program that any cadet or advanced certification candidate can complete on their own 24/7. Among our graduates have been some of the best of SL who have gone on to do great things for the community in their own name.

Through its association with the SLTA and JOUSTING LEAGUE the DDA has also helped promote and build a robust community of Joust, Archery and Melee events which track and annually reward the accomplishments of it's participants, in a manner that stands alone in the annals of SL. Such success has resulted in competitive cross-pollination of many new groups and realms wishing to offer similar events and services.

The DDA has always maintained the rights of the individual to own their achievements, not a Group or Realm, and will continue to welcome all participants without bias, promoting the opportunities any Group or Realm offers students for completing DDA program requirements in the areas of:

COMPETITION

Many realms host Joust, Archery and Melee events and all will qualify for the points required to complete a cadet or certification program.

TRAINING

Many vendors offer training equipment that meet a list of beginning, intermediate and advance testing requirements.

MENTORSHIP

Every group and Realm is a valuable resource for finding a mentor or others to mentor, and the DDA honor roll of former faculty and students provides important contact points.

SERVICE

The DDA has always focused student’s attention on building a strong relationship with their home realm through appropriate service opportunities.

Currently, all the information for our programs are available on the web @

With supportive information available on the web @

All materials and requirements are available on the SL Marketplace @

And all announcements are archived on the above websites ‘HERALD’ blog such as:

Because of our diversification online, it is no longer a requirement to maintain certain in-world training and tournament facilities, and in 2021 we will be phasing those out by year's end, while continuing to maintain our commitment to DDA cadet and certification programs, groups and avatars for in-world communication.

We will also continue to host current DDA Jousts at the campus until June 2021 and review the communities needs for future tournament use. We will maintain our commitment to host the 2021 SLTA Awards for Melee, Archery (after the New Year) and Joust (after Memorial Day) at the DDA campus. Thereafter we will be assessing the long term use of the Campus and Museum Of Tournament structures and work with the SLTA to determine the location of future awards ceremonies.

So please visit the campus and enjoy. Throughout this year we will be thanking those whose generous support and service have contributed to helping others develop their skills and train and compete at the DDA.

The DDA is justly proud of their contributions to its students and to in-world medieval role-play, training and tournaments, and look forward to a future that continues to reward their efforts through the cadet and certification programs. Be assured, we will maintain our commitment tohonor your accomplishments rightly’ and display graduation and certification achievements. Just as the Jousting League and Tournament association websites will continue to track and archive each participants achievements as they are reported."

'May the high road be always afore ye!'

Sir Forester Lowenhart, Headmaster Double Dragon Academy.
